Walking
along any beach on the New England coastline you will often
see the remains of a lobster trap washed up during high-tide
or perhaps a recent storm. The more severe the storm the more
artifacts wash up on the beach. I once spent a day on the cape
after the infamous no
name storm of 1991 to find the beach littered with lobster
traps (metal and wood), fishing lures and line, rope, clothing,
pieces of houses, boats, and common garbage. It was a scavengers
dream.
