The nature of a photograph truly lends itself to becoming a record for historical purposes, although in many cases is not the intention when taken. The Sagamore, which sat dry docked in Portsmouths' Prescott Park for many years, was undoubedly the subject for many a photographer, myself included. It never occured to me at the time this photograph was taken that it would someday be hauled away and all but forgotten.
