I
wholeheartedly tried to make the subject of lichen into a fine
art series of images this year but felt it needed more work
and time away from it to look at it with fresh eyes at a later
date. The image above displays a form of lichen called Cladonia
Deformis. I encourage any biologists reading this to let
me know if I have the name correct.
Anyone who has an aging whiskey barrel in their yard and is
interested in having plant life that isn't exactly available
at your local nursery grow in it, give the barrel some time
to develop what it wants on its own and see what ends up growing
inside or on it. I was lucky to have several varieties of interesting
plant life growing in mine, including the lichen displayed in
this image.
I photographed a series entitled "dewberries"
from moss that had grown inside one of the whiskey barrels left
abandoned to natures discression.
