As you may have figured out, I take pictures almost every day of the year but don't always display them on the web or anywhere else for that matter. So... I decided since it's the last day of 2002, I would post a few of the better "unpublished" images I've taken during this past year on this last day of 2002.

I wholeheartedly tried to make the subject of lichen into a fine art series of images this year but felt it needed more work and time away from it to look at it with fresh eyes at a later date. The image above displays a form of lichen called Cladonia Deformis. I encourage any biologists reading this to let me know if I have the name correct.

Anyone who has an aging whiskey barrel in their yard and is interested in having plant life that isn't exactly available at your local nursery grow in it, give the barrel some time to develop what it wants on its own and see what ends up growing inside or on it. I was lucky to have several varieties of interesting plant life growing in mine, including the lichen displayed in this image.

I photographed a series entitled "dewberries" from moss that had grown inside one of the whiskey barrels left abandoned to natures discression.

My backyard was a peach orchard turned into a housing development. I got lucky and was able to harvest peaches during the three years I lived at this location. The image above shows the blossoms I would get each spring from these peach trees. It was beautiful and something I will remember fondly. The peaches were delicious too. For some reason the trees had a short live cycle and by the time I moved, at least half of the orchard had died. It was an old orchard I suspect.

I've taken many trips to New Hampshire's seacoast during 2002. This image was taken in April at North Hampton beach.

I visited Pack Monadnock via Miller State Park several times during 2002. My intention was to capture a 360 view from the top of the observatory tower which I ultimately did but wasn't satisfied with the results and didn't post it as a result. I did get some worthy imagery in the process and want to make some of them available eventually including the above image which is a view of Mount Monadnock from the tower at the top of South Pack Monadnock.

Southern New Hampshire has a small airport in Nashua. One evening as I headed home I passed the airport and noticed a beautiful sunset in the horizon. The image above is what I captured.

On a drive along route 1a at the coast of New Hampshire I spotted a tidal marsh carpeted with lily pads in bloom. This photograph was one of the close-up images I liked from the photographs I took that day.
